About Method Pilates
At Method Pilates we will build your inner and outer strength using the method as it was developed by Joseph Pilates. We don't want to just meet your goals, but help you exceed them. There is a "method" to our madness!
While many styles of Pilates have developed over the years, at Method Pilates we exclusively practice Romana’s Pilates; it is the exercises and philosophies of Joseph and Clara Pilates as handed down to protégé Romana and now, her daughter Sari. For more info, click HERE.
Born and raised in Saratoga Springs, NY, I grew up in an athletic-oriented family...my Dad was a P.E. teacher and Coach at the local school. For the first 10 years or so of my life I accompanied him to games, practices and lifting sessions for various teams, and then to field hockey practices with my sisters. In addition to that I was the youngest of five kids, so I had to develop Darwin-esque survival skills. I played competitive sports through college and also coached after graduating, (genetic destiny).
In 2011, I made a bet/New Year's resolution with my boyfriend at the time and decided to take up Pilates; I had done it sporadically in the past, but decided to make it my primary form of exercise. I unwittingly immersed myself in Pilates for a year, (won the bet), and was approached by the owner of the studio and asked if I would consider becoming an instructor. I thought about it and figured, why not?!
So I started 'the program'. After a year full of countless lessons, train rides to New York City (thank god for Amtrak), seminars, tests, observation hours and constantly dirty laundry, I received my certification from True Pilates NY. I like to think of it as getting my PhD in Pilates, (more details here). For 4 years I taught at the studio where I was originally a client, then an unplanned opportunity arose and Method Pilates was the result.
Pilates became part of my life on a whim, but the experiences it has given, and continues to give, will remain with me forever. As so many have shared Pilates with me, I look forward to sharing the method with you. Love all around!
